I didn’t use it as a sew in. I actually used it for my goddess braids and me & my Braider definitely love it. It didn’t not mat up. I swam in salt water, got my hair wet in the pool, etc. it held up very well, hair is very soft & even tho it wasn’t on my scalp it did not irritate at all or became rough.
